Developer loses Esher Place House appeal
We are incredibly pleased to see that the crass, inappropriate proposals for Esher Place House have been roundly rejected by His Majesty’s Inspectors.
His, often quite scathing, decision can be found on the Elmbridge Planning portal under application number 2020/0437. The key point made by the inspector reads: “The proposal would result in very considerable harm to the significance of the listed building and to its setting.”
This was always our position.
Residents fought hard against these proposals and their efforts have been justly rewarded.
The history of the house and of the planning application is available on this here:

That is fantastic news especially after waiting a year on tenterhooks for the Appeal decision. Thanks for letting us know and I see you are hiding your light under the proverbial bushel as you yourself Richard did a phenomenal amount of work along with all the residents to get this abomination discarded!

My mum and her little sister lived here for 10 years from 1937, they were seven and five years old respectively when it was a girls home, I was fortunate to visit with them on 2 occasions when there was a reunion. We lost our mum on Christmas Eve, she told wonderful stories of life there, I’m delighted that the appeal was rejected. It’s an amazing place with so much history. Veronica (Yorkshire).
