East Surrey Council Elections: Support Local Independents

Goodbye SurreyCC and ElmbridgeBC – hello ‘East Surrey Council’

Local elections for the new unitary council of East Surrey are taking place next month on 7 May.

Local democracy has never been under such threat as it is now, with less representation for residents and greater power being taken by Westminster. The importance of independent and resident associations candidates cannot be overstated. These are people who really care about the areas they represent and do not have to follow national party political edicts.

Simon Waugh and Simon Leifer are standing respectively as independents, endorsed by the Esher Residents Association and other Elmbridge Residents Associations, for the new wards of:

Esher, Claygate and North Oxshott / Simon Waugh

Hersham / Simon Leifer

Depending on where you live will determine which ward you can vote in.

Please make your vote count and elect the two Simons who will truly represent you.

All the national parties say they will defend the Green Belt but their recent votes in Planning Committees belie this claim. The ERA has always opposed building on the Green Belt and we were successful in defeating the proposed development of Sandown Park as well as other inappropriate development.

Hersham Golf course was lost but we still opposed it. We have to carry on the fight. The ERA is a member of the London Green Belt Council who have identified that there are enough brownfield sites in this country to build 3 million homes so why is this government hell bent on destroying our precious Green Belt? Once it is gone it is lost forever.
