We were very pleased to see Cllr. Richard Williams retain his seat on May 4^th. after a seemingly endless campaign of manifesto deliveries and canvassing. The ERA continues to hold all three seats in the Esher Ward.

Richard will serve as a Councillor for four years.

Very soon after Richard announced his candidacy, he was invited to take on the role of Mayor of Elmbridge. This was a very unusual situation. Weybridge and St George’s Hill councillor Charu Sood had been Deputy Mayor for 2022/3, but has been unwell and felt unable to take up the post of Mayor for 2023/4. Richard was delighted and honoured to step into the breach and Cllr. Sood will continue as Deputy Mayor for the year.

At  the full Council meeting on May 17^th, Richard officially took on the Mayoral role, succeeding our own Cllr. Simon Waugh, who is now Deputy leader of the Council.
