‘Morrisons Daily’ imminent closure
High Street Post Office will close too, unless someone comes forward willing to take it on.
News has been confirmed that the former McColls, now Morrisons Daily, on Esher High Street will close with the loss of the store and of the Post Office. An email from the Post Office says:
”We understand that Post Office services are important to communities and we will be inviting local retailers in the area to register their interest in an application for Esher Post Office on our website , a colleague will also visit the high street to assess opportunities. Please feel free to share the link with any interested parties who might want to apply for Esher Post Office.
Constituents can also contact us with their questions and comments.
We apologise to our customers who may need to travel further to access services from August, there are two alternative post offices within 1.5 miles at Hinchley Wood ( 12 Manor Road North, KT10 0SH) and The Parade ( 25 The Parade, KT10 0PD) that customers may choose to visit.”
This isn’t great news for Esher High Street, which has done well in recent months with a number of new retailers and restaurants taking on empty units. The loss of the Post Office will be particularly difficult for some residents.
We will be working with the Council to encourage businesses or individuals to step into the breach.
