Promenade Choirs

Young musicians in Elmbridge have a wonderful opportunity to develop their skills as singers. The Promenade Choirs, based in Hersham, welcome singers from across the borough and beyond, and have developed a reputation for quality performances within the community, as well as supporting ambitious young singers who seek to improve their singing perhaps with a view to future careers in the performing arts.
The choirs were founded in 2008 and put on concerts each term, with repertoire ranging from choral arrangements of contemporary pop and musical theatre songs to classical masterpieces such as Handel’s Messiah and Fauré’s Requiem. The choirs are professionally run by Christopher Goldsack, an experienced singer and singing teacher, and perform regularly with professional musicians.
The Promenade Youth Choir caters for young singers from 11-18 and the Promenade Junior Choir from 7-11. The choirs are not auditioned and very welcoming, achieving exceptionally high standards, and have close contacts with many local schools. New members are not expected to have any experience as singers. With bursaries available for any singer who cannot afford the termly fee these choirs are genuinely accessible to all who are interested.
For more information you can visit the choirs’ website at www.promenade.org.uk, and Christopher will also be on the ERA’s stall at the West End Fair on 26th August.
