Could you be a Trustee of CHEER?

Set up more than 60 years ago, CHEER is a local charity that provides a befriending service, hosts events and helps with benefits advice and signposting to other services for over 65s in the borough.  As the cost of living bites hard, their services are increasingly being sought are and the number of referrals to their help from other agencies is increasing daily.

With minimal resources, a small team of staff and a dedicated group of volunteers, the charity really makes a difference and helps people lead full, dignified and independent lives. To help cope with the increasing demand, CHEER is currently looking for some additional trustees willing to help shape the direction of the charity and its activities and ensure its model continues to be sustainable.

They are particularly keen to hear from people interested in, or with experience of, older people and social care; fundraising; marketing and communications; HR; legal; business management.

There are just a handful of meetings a year, but plenty of opportunities for people to get involved and take a hands-on role if wished.

If this sounds like you, please contact Julian Mobbs, Chair of the Trustees, at jmobbs@expensereduction.com for more details.
